Grouse and woodcock are usually hunted in alder, swales and abandoned farms, which for many years have been the best place to find them.

At times, you will come across 1 – 6 grouse in a flock.

You could get up to 25 – 30 points for woodcock a day.

Well trained dogs play a big part of your hunt. With your dogs, it is not uncommon 10 – 20 birds a day. Grouse limits are 6 per day; woodcock limits are 8 per day.

Keep in mind that a full hunters orange hat in addition to 400 square inches of hunters orange on the chest front and back is required.
